Welcome again ladies and gentleman of the blogging persuasion. It’s time for another amazing tour into: The Whimsical World of Mahutaville’s (W.W.O.M.) hall of douche bags. Tonight our special guest is none other than Jim Davis. Now before you all start booing me to the high heavens here me out. We here at the WWOM have a fool-proof system for rooting out the biggest douche bags in the world, it is a complicated system of formulas, analysis of documents and at the head of all of this: Brian Mahuta. Brian Mahuta knows all. So, hush. Anyways Jim Davis is receiving the Biggest Douchebag award this month for these reasons. Davis the inventor of the “loveable” character Garfield stopped writing these “hilarious” strip years ago and has a crack-team of funny men to regurgitate three jokes.

Eating a lot.

I would also like to point out the sub par film that recently came out “Garfield”. The only good thing about the film was Bill Murray as the voice of Garfield. So, Jim Davis you are a douchebag.

I have had a really bad day. We all have them the: I accidently ran over the dog, lost my job, failed my LSAT, started that war kind of a day. Today is that day. It has been one of the worst in a while but, if you sit there and just let all the bad stuff in you’re done. You snuffed it. If you instead just look around take a deep breath you’ll see it’ll all be alright. You feel that sensation inside of you that makes your heart go thump. It gives you a hand up when your down. Hope. Hope lies in faith, faith lies in love. Love is what’s it all boils down too. I know that at the moment I have just vexed and confused some of my readers (not that they aren’t confused at reading my posts all the time, sorry) but, let me try to explain myself.

Let’s talk about Hope. Hope is defined in the dictionary as:

To wish for something with expectation of its fulfillment.

Archaic. To have confidence; trust.

1. To wish for something and having an expectancy to see that wish happen. To trust in something. This is hope, when all is lost we have an presentiment that something will happen. Hope is a human trait to think that its not the end, to fight back. For a Christian we have something different instead of just hope we have faith.

Faith is explained in Hebrews 11:1-3 this way:
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony. By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.”

Faith goes beyond hope, faith is what hope is made of we look for the things that are not here. As Christians we believe strongly in faith such as, our Salvation, healings, casting out of demons, Prayer. By faith we understand all things, the creation of exsistence. In essence, that is what being a Christian is all about hope and faith but, we are going to go further. Hope leads to faith, faith leads to love.
Love. The greatest of all three, it takes hope and faith. Paul writes on faith, hope and love in Corinthians. This passage I believe explains love the best:

“Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing. Love suffers long and does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there arethere is knowledge, it will vanish away. For we know in part tongues, they will cease; whether and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away. When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.
And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”
-1 Corinthians 13

Love is putting yourself on the line, ready to make yourself completely vunerable. This is a hard thing whether it is in a relationship between a man and a woman or human and Almighty God. It takes a great ammount of hope and from hope we produce faith and the product of all three of these things is love. Love. The ultimate gift we as humans are offered is the greatest love offering of all time Salvation but, salvation came at a price.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” John 3:16-17

So throughout all of this what I am trying to say is have hope. If your hope is in Christ you have the other two: faith and love. So whatever crappy day you are going through have faith my friend we will make it through.

Faith.
Hope.
Love.

As I sit here I have to say one thing that is going through my mind. Disgust.

I reminisce of the faults of my past and how they still plague me to this day. I am not talking about a sin I did a long time ago, repented and moved on. I am talking about sins I have committed in my past and have continued to do them, even though I know them to be wrong and a sin I do them anyway. Why? You all know what I am talking about, everyone has their secret offences and vices that put you away from God. Something deep down whether it is: Gluttony, Lust, and Laziness ect. I have a few in my bag of habitual sins. When I do them it feels good just for a moment then, I am down again in prayer asking for forgiveness. I really want forgiveness but, repentance is more than just saying you’re sorry. Repentance is making an effort never to do that sin(s) again. Just because God is merciful and as it says in:
Lamentations 3:22-24

“Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed,

        for His compassions never fail.

       they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.

I say to myself, “The LORD is my portion;
therefore I will wait for him.”

Does this mean that we can take advantage of God and His forgiveness? No. God’s mercy is not supposed to be a get-out-of-sin-free card. It is to call to redeem us when we fall so we will not go and do the same thing as we did before. Paul puts this in an easy way to understand:

“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of Hisresurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not! Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves of uncleanness, and of lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves of righteousness for holiness. For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 6

When you sin, you become a slave to it. So you become an addicted, enslaved to your sin. It engulfs your being, so are you really free? Can you really say that God is your Master, if you bow your knee to a sin? The answer is no. So all I can say is come to repentance. Forgiveness is there only if you ask for it. God forgives. As He says:“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness…” 1 John 1:9.

Don’t be a slave anymore.

An American human being by the grace of God.
Anyways…
I have one more class till I jet back to the land of cows and bearded women (Peaslyville, NY) and it makes me feel glad. It’s a gorgeous day, the sun is shining, the bugs are biting and the Red Sox’s are losing…this is my kinda day. I really don’t have anything deep to post about (not that I ever do) and I only have fifteen minutes to post so, you see my dilemma. I just wanted to put something down on the ol’ site to show that sometimes life is just good. Shut up, stop bitching and look out the window and take a walk or go for a two-hour drive north because, there is just something magical about sheep, bearded woman and beautiful days.

Shining racing Running
Bearded cotton
Driving biting Losing
Fun.
