Like a night in the forest
Like the mountains in springtime
Like a walk in the rain
Like a storm in the desert
Like a sleepy blue ocean
You fill up my senses
Come fill me again…” -Annie’s Song, John Denver, 1974.

I reminisce in the lyrics of John Denver on occasion, this song brings back memories of beauty and ruin. It reminds me of my youth, my friends, my girlfriend (now my wife) and hiking in the Adirondacks. I think it’s a fair statement that I love to rejoin my memories of things past and write on them, as if it wasn’t noticeable in probably 3/4 of the last two year’s posts. What I really miss is the child-like faith I had, wondrous stories of God’s mercy, wisdom, passion, and can of whoop as that befalls me on a regular basis. At the moment, I rarely open God’s word and feed my soul, I am famished for the walk that I had. It’s not like, I am in a dry period either, life is wonderful. I have a job, my wife has a job, nice apartment…family, friends, pint of Saranac, and a pinch of snuff…I am missing the best stuff though; A closer walk with my Father. Those children’s Sunday school lyrics are true “…neglect your Bible, and forget to pray and you shrink, shrink, shrink…” I feel, I grasp at straws in my prayer life: “God please do this, watch this Bless that, Amen. Goodbye.” Not “Hey God, what’s going on? This is what is going on in my life, I wish, I hope, I pray…”

Hebrews 13: 5, Puts God’s message to us: “Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.””

He won’t leave us but, dumb fuck me will. He knows that we stumble and fail but, if we ask He’ll lift us up, and fill up our senses again…Hello Annie.
